My GO 700 has suddenly started behaving strangely.

It was working perfectly, with excellent satellite strength until a couple of days ago, when without warning it refused to start in the morning - I don't know why. The battery was / is fully charged.

I pressed the reset button for 20 seconds, and then it started normally. But now I am finding that the signal strength is very poor - even just sitting outside holding it. It's either showing "waiting for a valid GPS signal...", or it's showing just one bar. If it does pick up a signal, it only holds it for a second or two, then looses it. All this just sitting in the garden. I normally get a good signal even in the house.

Anyone got any ideas on what's going on? It doesn't seem to be usable for a journey in its present state.

Thanks

It sounds ill. The 700 came with two year warranty - any chance it's still covered?

No, it's well out of its two year warranty.

Then I have a sad feeling you're facing a decision between sending it away for assessment and repair or replacing it. A great shame, as in my opinion, it's the best GO for stability, the later series have not maintained the quality of the x00 series.

If nobody else comes into this thread with ideas, satnavshop on 01142 433176 have a good reputation on this site

Why not give them a ring to talk about it.
