|
|
I've just downloaded v 2.3.0.70 of the TomTom Home software.
The screen display is too wide for my PC screen and I haven't got scorllbars to see the rest of it.
Can anyone offer some advice?
I do have a "standard" 15" monitor, not a widescreen version - is that it?
I'm running Windows XP.
Thanks.
GTT. |

It is a problem i too had with XP back with version 2.1.
It went onto level two support at TomTom and i havent heard a word from them since. As i now run Vista i havent chased it up.
Sometimes as i recall i used to reload the app from a direct link and it would work fine but if you get it from those boxes on the homepage there is a fair chance it will do this.
I wish i could give you a definite fix but as TomTom can't i guess it is just trying to get it going from a reinstall. |

You probably need to change ur screen resolution to see it all
Its probably set to 800 x 600
Right click on a blank area of ur desk top...
Click Properties...
The select the Settings tab @ the top
Change the setting to 1024 x 768 should suffice
Apply
Then OK |

Thanks for those prompt replies. I'll try fiddling with the settings and see what happens. |

Slightly Sorry.
Just occasionally PGPSW forums are wider than my screen, and I can only read them using the scroll bars. Usually there are adverts on bith sides and the forums take uo about 2/3 of the screen width in the centre.
Anyone know of any reason for this? It happens rarely and I cna live with it. I'm just curious. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Most web-sites assume 1024 x 758 to be the minimum resolution now. Application developers may make similar assumptions but if they do then they should at least provide scroll bars. TomTom HOME does not and on my UMPC (a micro handheld XP device) I cannot use HOME as the maximum resolution is 800 x 400.
In answer to the question about our web-site, we design for 1024 x 768, the only times it will appear wider is if someone has posted either a very long web link without using the hyperlink option or if they post an image in a thread that is larger than 400 pixels in width.
Our forum rules request that images are no wider than 400 pixels for just this reason and where we see long web links we will hyperlink them to resolve the issue e.g.:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=posting&mode=reply&t=66691
Although the above example is not a long link, it can be replaced by this. A much neater solution. Some links can be two or three times the above example and will result in the page width reformatting to accommodate them.
Code: | this |
If you use the above as a guide, when you need to enter a link, precede it with after the link, then add your 'friendly link, e.g. click here and then end with . It makes for much easier reading! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Darren, Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. Next time it happens I'll be interested to take a look at this. _________________ TT Go Essential |
