Hi i am in the market for a Tomtom 720T.
If i buy the 720T will i be able to upgrade sotware and maps to 730T spec when they becme available or am i better waiting and just buying a 730T?
Currently using XDA Mini Navigator 6, cross that maps are no longer being updated and are becoming out of date.

As you may have read, the hardware of the x20 and x30 ranges are identical (apart from the colour).
TomTom will obviously release new maps for general use and to make those work (if v7 is anything to go by) they will have to release versions of v8 for the older models. As ever, the latest models are catered for first (partly political reasons but also because they are easiest to do).

Taking into account the large price difference (lots of discounts on the 720) , personally I would opt for the 720 and upgrade when you can. It's an excellent machine.

I would also think twice about getting the "T" version. Traffic doesn't work properly at the moment and has had a very poor history. You can always buy the TMC aerial at a later date.

Just to re-iterate Andy's point, I bought my TT 720T last week and am now in a "discussion" with TomTom asking them what they are going to do about the £50 lump of wire that came with my device. Evil or Very Mad

Thanks for asking the question and thanks for the feedback guys. Helped me make up my mind and just reserved mine at local Comet with £10 off code GPS10. I know its a little cheaper at Amazon but I hate to wait Laughing
