|
|
I have an IPAQ 6515 with Tomtom v6+UA Canada Maps. Everything seemed to be fine until recently when the GPS connection started behaving erratic. Sometimes when I start TT, the GPS latches on instantly (with QuickCOnnect) and in about 70 secs with quickconnect. But sometimes it just doesnt read at all for 10-15 mins even with latest Quickconnect update.
The only change from pre-problem time to problem time is the change in DST. I now notice that the UTC time is out of syc too.
Any idea what could be going in?

Are you using the assisted GPS capability? if you use the device on a regular basis there is no need for the aGPS or QGPS - I haven't used it now for well over three months on any of my devices that can use it and still get signal acquisition times down in the seconds.
A week or so ago problems were encountered with a number of users who all seem to be using the aGPS feature, it was never proven 100%, but those of us that don't use the aGPS didn't have a problem.
One other point, make sure you get a signal fix BEFORE moving off, if you set off it will further complicate the receivers task of working out where it is - Mike |

I do use QGPS and download the latest locations whenever I can. And you are right, when I use them regularly, the system seem to retain the last position and hooks up quickly even without QGPS.
The problem I am encountering appears to be unrelated to QGPS. Sometimes the signal acquisition process is unending....out of curiosity, I had kept it on for 25 minutes without moving and it didnt get a fix. To check if it has something to do with TomTom 6, I uninstalled it and installed MS pocket streets and started the GPS. After a minute it said something like "the com port is available but communicating etc".
Any way, right now I have TT6 back on and the GPS is working OK. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I used to have the 6515. The gps in it was awful, in the end I used a bluetooth rxer until the unit died. I got an xda on contract and even though I have had 2 faulty xda's, knowing O2 would replace with a refurbished unit is a comfort. _________________ o2 XDA Stellar

Hi
I am totally new to GPRS so do not understand a lot of jargon. I have a Ipaq 6515 windows 2003, running TT5, in the last week despite downloading updates for the QGPS, I have found when I leave for work in the early hours I cannot get a fix at all. But at 1.30pm it connects immediately.,I have sometimes had a problem message saying something up with exe and to restart. I restart and its the same.
I had no problem till about a week ago, yesterday I continually tried to get a fix all morning then in the afternoon it connected right away. So, I left it connected and found this morning that it again could not connect. Could it be something to do with time??
I have found a reset to factory button, and wonder if I reset would this correct the problem.
Its frustrating... can anyone help?? |
