I have suffered a disastrous experience with TomTom and a 910 bought last July. It has been back for "repair" six times to CRC in Kircaldy. Each time it arrives back with screws missing, the grommit fallen out or similar bad practice, but most importantly it works for a few weeks then fails again. At no time do CRC actually say what they have done to the device and they never return a phone call, email or fax.

Now I have had a fatal charging failure. TT said send it back again, sent me a label for UPS and it went back on 19 March. Imagine my surprise (disgust) when I was told this was an out of warranty repair and could they have 145 euros.

I have tried faxing TT's sales director, knowing full well I would get no response—but you have to try before one instigates action in the small claims court or against the credit card company—because the supplier has declined to replace the product or refund my cash.

What sort of organisation is it that refuses to pick up a phone or sort a product failure? How can I, as an individual, make my displeasure known to the powers that be in the organisation that this behaviour is not the way forward? All it would take is five minutes of someone's time to get it sorted.

Any advice welcome and should I buy something else?

Cheers

Mike

Within five minutes of my posting this message I received another email from my TT support lady saying that she had taken the matter in hand and told the repair centre to get the device repaired under warranty because it was less than six months since the last repair. Obviously takes a lady to get things done!

I know it was a coincidence, but one has to be fair and report events as they happen.

My comments re poor quality repairs are still valid though.
