I'm going to buy these shortly, but the only drawback I can see after reading the review is the CD swapping needed to load the maps you need. I was wondering whether anyone has tried copying the complete set of CD's onto a single DVD - one folder for each I guess - and then running the install from there? Looking at the map sizes, it seems that they will easily fit on a 4.7GB disk. |

You can do that but then you will have to do some heavy editing in the menu files - or you change all occurrences of CD2 etc in there into CD1.
The CDs will all have to be copied into the root, because that's where their files are expected by the setup program. _________________ Lutz

OK, thanks for the reply - doesn't sound very easy for something you only occasionally have to do. Probably easier to swap disks! |

I have done that exercise for version 1.5, and it took me a good two weeks to understand the menu file structure (and their programming mistakes) to produce a pan-european setup. Swapping CDs definitely sounds like the easier solution. _________________ Lutz

I think it will work on a DVD or hard drive. You'd just need to start the appropriate setup exe under the required map folders. Better still, you could extract the maps you need to hard drive folders then copy to CF card when you need them. |
