Has anyone else noticed the new smaller & sneakier Gatsos on the A303 at Winterbourne Stoke?

The old one is there, but there are 2 more small ones, conveniently painted beige on short street lamp posts, they're about the size of 2 A4 box files stacked on top of each other, one has a red bulb (infra red?) with possibly the camera & the other has what I'm taking to be a standard flash unit in it.

It seems Wiltshire's Camera Gestapo seem to be stooping to new lows. Twisted Evil

I didn't notice the September reports either. So I pulled into the layby they are sited on and started taking photos. The camera was on auto flash and just as some poor soul was driving past (my WHITE van), I unintentionally gave him a double (red eye) flash from behind. Sorry, whoever you are, but at least you didn't get a ticket!

Are they confirmed as a new type of gatso? Because they aren't positively identified in that thread. If they are should they be added to the camera types on the speed camera page?

I have not managed to identify what they are and have not seen any other example of them yet.

Unless my eyes deceive me, one of the pictures clearly displays the name 'Gatso' on the back:

Obviously, this doesn't give any additional information regarding how the cameras work

...unless he wasn't fooled by your 'fake' and sped through a genuine camera

That's the ones...

I read on the other thread about having a go at them, I wouldn't try as most of the Wiltshire Gestapos cameras are protected by CCTV!

If anyone's got a high velocity rifle Gun Shoot Out you could try some target practice on them both! Laughing

Not I should condone such behaviour... Embarassed

Aren't 'safety' cameras supposed to be clearly marked and yellow ?

Not anymore, our beloved leaders changed their minds on that some time ago, won't be long before they are camouflaged.
