Posted: Tue Mar 04, 2008 2:05 pm Post subject: NAVMAN's Own Speed Camera Updates for S Series |
|
|
The decision to subscribe to Navman's own speed camera updates was made on two counts; the first being the limitation imposed by Navman of 12,000 (yes, I live in the UK), the second that I wanted European camera updates as well.
I subscribed on the 12th January and downloaded an update (?) but there has been nothing since.
I emailed Navman support and was advised that there had been a problem with the January update from Road Pilot and that there would be an update the following week (mid February). As there still wasn't an update on the 29th I emailed them again. Apparently they still haven't got an update from Road Pilot and can't say when one will be available. They say that they will inform me when they know though.
So, two questions then:-
1) Has anyone else subscribed to UK or European speed camera updates and what is your experience?
2) Where are the speed camera files held on the S series and what are their names? I just want to check how old they are and if any update has been issued.
Thanks
Paul |

I subscribed late last year, and go an update within days (think mid December)
There has not been one (to my knowledge) since, and therefore will be contacting Navman to extend my subscription, as we were promised monthly updates, which have not materialised, no matter for what reason beyond their control
Having said that, I like their data, and its implementation |

Does it really matter how well it is presented or implemented if it's two months out of date! _________________ Darren Griffin |

It's a difficult one, if the device could handle ours then that would be the answer but it can't. The only mainstream device that baulks at 12000+ POIs. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Must be co-incidence. Although they possibly read, none of them seem to take any notice. |

Maybe they do read the forum. Their response on the 3rd said
Quote: | We are still awating the data from road pilot. Unfortunately I can't give you a definite time of when it will be available.
I will let you know as soon as the updates will be available for you to download. |
And on the 6th it's done. I've just checked my home email and the notification's there. Must make a note of file sizes etc before I update.

I done the speed cam update this morning, when I took it out and conected it the the car, it come up on the screen that I needed to retieve licence codes!!!
I have just got back and connected it to navdesk and retrieved the licences, so thats ok now, but now when I turn it on, it says not all maps could be loaded!
any ideas as to why it is now saying that.
Regards Mick. |

Same here - going to try uninstalling and reinstalling my mapping from the DVD when I get home
Cannot believe that my Navman s90i was fine when bought...
1. updated with SP1 and now pronounces road names "ah40" not "A40" etc.
2. updated camera database and maps corrupt
Still, not the end of the world... just the road! |

xtraseller, you have to be the most optimistic customer I have ever seen!- A service pack that makes matters worse.
- Camera updates that are two months old
- And an update that wipes out your maps
By now, most users would be screaming blue murder, what do you say? "I like the implementation' and "not the end of the world"! You are definitely a cup is half full kind of guy, have an award:
