I've got a tomtom 510 and my sons got a new tomtom 520. The map on my tomtom is showing as version 7.10 and when connecting to home it shows theres a download available for version 7.20.
I assume my sons new tomtom has the latest maps on it. is it possible to copy the maps of his onto mine ? |

The maps are activated to a single device so it is not as simple as copying the maps to a different device this is outside of the license you both have.
Are you sure about the map version number though as I thought the latest maps were version 715 ?? - Mike |

Are you sure you're not seeing a SOFTWARE update to v7.20? |

Mapshare works with any v7 software and any v7 UK or Europe mapping (and also the 675.1409 or higher map)
See What is Map Share? on the TT site for more details. |

thanks for the info.
I've now bought the map off the tomtom Home app, 160meg download. But this rubbish service keeps timing out. Downloads a bit at 20-30k then stops, does a bit more after a min or so stops bit more a few mins later. this continues for a while then it just times out.
at this rate it says its going to take 6hrs. this has got to be a joke, anyone else have any problems with downloading from tomtom ? |

That's pretty normal.
Only suggestion is to try at night.
A Europe map can take 4-5 hours to download.
And yes, I agree it's rubbish performance. No one has ever been able to explain why TomTom download servers are so poor. |

6 hours is good for the TT servers - I started mine at midnight.... and it still wasn't finished by 9AM! |
