Hi, Ive just bought my TTV2 and want to take it to the states and plug in to the Hired Harley cigar lighter socket rather than repeatedly charging overnight. I bought the car mount/charger kit to get the lead but now realise this is not the same connection as the bike version (You would have to have the TTV2 flap open, therefore not waterproof) Can you get a lead that has the cigar socket one end and the bike socket other end? Also Ive been told that the only way you can get USA mapping is by download. Can't you buy 'ready to use' SD cards with USA & Canada ?
Thanks. |

The USA map is still listed on their web site, but it costs more than the download version, see Here for the full USA map (One v2 device).
But if you have a Rider 2 then download is the only option Here
As for connecting up the device to the bike I am not too sure how you can acheive this, does the Harley have a standard 12V ciggy socket as found in a car? - if so power your unit using the charger lead supplied - is this a Rider 2 or One v2 we are talking about? - Mike |

Thanks for the reply. The unit is a Rider V2, and the Harley does have a standard 12v cigar lighter. I bought the car unit to get the lead as well as have the flexibility to use the unit on four wheels. My only concern is that the car lead would have to go into the 'inner sanctum' of the unit which would mean leaving the flap open, and it would not be water proof. I also thought that the lead would probably vibrate out as it is a pretty loose push fit, and my Harley is not known for its vibration free running !
One other thing, if you download, do you need to have a spare SD card and your Tom Tom connected, or do uyou just download to the PC and then put the info on a spare card later? Thanks for your help with this.
