Assuming you have downloaded some POIs from this site?
Assuming you can do simple copy and pasting of files on your PC...

You will get a single file with the three letters ".zip" after the name.

Quote:
If you can't see those three letters you need to switch Windows to show them (In Windows Explorer or My Computer go to the Tools menu, Folder Options, View tab and UN-tick the item that says "Hide extensions for known file types"

That file is a "zip archive" that contains the files you need.
You need to right click on it (if you have Windows XP or later) and select "extract all" to recreate the original files.

You will then get one or more sets of POI files comprising:
abcde.ov2
abcde.bmp (where "abcde" is the name of the POI category)
The .ov2 is the data and the .bmp is the icon (picture) you see on-screen.

Both of those files need to be copied (using Windows Explorer) into the map folder on your Go ("GB_Map" or whatever yours is called).

So you need to connect your Go to the PC and it will be recognised by Windows as a new disk drive (or two as you have a Go with both internal memory storage and an SD card). Then just COPY the files mentioned and PASTE them into the map folder, which is in the internal storage if you haven't added another map.

Once that's done, use the icon near the PC's clock to "safely remove hardware" before you unplug the Go.

Turn the Go back on and "enable" the view of the POIs in change preferences"/ "Show POI on map"

(BTW - "jargon" is GOOD. This reply could have been much shorter if you knew some. Wink )

And don't put more than 300 custom POI categories on the device as there is a limit, each POI category can contain thousands of locations though - Mike
