Tom Tom 720 & Blackberry 8800

Been working perfectly well together, bluetoothed, synched, everything perfect until today. For some reason this morning I had no phone contacts on my tom tom, after trying many times to send contacts to my TT I get an error message 'Uncaught exception:java.lang. ClassicCastException'.

I've tried taking the phone battery out, disconnecting the bluetooth from both BB & TT which isn't doing anything. My BB still has the bluetooth indicator light showing even when the TT is off which it never did.

Does anyone understand the error message? its got me stumped!

Delete the phone from the TomTom device and try creating the connection again from scratch - Mike

Thanks Mike, Ive deleted the TT from the phone and the phone from the TT so there is no blue tooth link and then redid the whole process but still getting nowhere.

The Bluetooth Icon on the 8800 indicates that Bluetooth is ON.

Delete the phone on the 720 and then on the Blackberry goto Manage Connections | Bluetooth Options and delete the TomTom GO 720 profile.

Then re-add the 8800 on the Go.

When you're not using the 8800 withe the 720 you can use the 'Manage Connections' function to disable Bluetooth which will help with battery life.

Still none the wiser on this problem, c'mon you guys you always help me out, has this one got you confused as well, its driving me mad.

If all else fails you could try the Clear Flash Tool which has been known to fix phone problems but delete all pairings first in the TT and BB first then disconnect the battery in the BB and then re-connect and then run the Clear Flash Tool in the TT and then do a Factory Reset straight after the Clear Flash Tool then try setting up the pairing again.

I've got called, callers & contacts.

To add to the misery, I was advised to uninstall the Desk Top Manager that my Blackberry works through and re-install it.

It won't uninstall and re-install and every time I restart my system I get an error message that I can't get rid of!

Someone on the Blackberry forum said it might have something to do with the OS.

I am trying to install version 4.3, but the previous version won't uninstall, the error message is

Error 2738. Could not access VBScript run time for custom action.

Does this make any sense!

Follow these steps:

Launch a Command prompt as administrator:

Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command prompt
Right click on Command Prompt and select "Run as administrator"

In the resulting Command prompt window type the following:

cd %windir%\system32
hit the return key then enter:
regsvr32 vbscript.dll

Exit the Command prompt window and then retry the uninstall.

Thanks for the reply Darren and for taking the time, have tried what you suggested but it hasn't worked. Don't really know what to do other than removing Vista and trying everything again with XP, Vista gives me so many problems so I'm blaming that for this one as well

Hmm, hang in there as this is solvable. Firstly, did you run the command prompt as 'administrator'? This is not the same as being logged on as administrator?

Also, are you familiar with the Registry? I need to check if two registry keys exist?

OK the plot thickens -

logged on as admin and followed your steps, uninstalled program and the following error message came up -

Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\Windows\Installer\Blackberry Desktop Software.msi

The following registry keys have been deleted -

Delete the Research In Motion folder within HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ .
Delete the Research In Motion folder within HKEY_Local_Machine\Software

Have looked for anything we can find to do with Blackberry or Research In motion and deleted it!!
Of course have no working DTM, can't uninstall or install another one.

Since the problem first started with the TT and I disabled bluetooth to start again I can't get rid of the bluetooth indicator light on my BB even when bluetooth is disabled and the TT is off. Is it possessed?
