map activation

having recently lent my 510 GO to a friend,it came back without the sd card,he had lost it and couldnt find it!!,he gave me a blank 256mb card,but as i had no back up of the card ,was forced to borrow another friends card,but cannot activate the map,even though i have the product code and id code,the activation code provided by tomtom keeps saying,this is the wrong code for this map,although they were both GB and major roads of WE. am i doing something wrong.any help would be greatly appreciated.

You cannot use your friends map in your device as it is allready registered to him and the maps can only be used in one device at the one time. They are tied to the device by way of the device code of that TT unit.

Your friend needs to buy you a new map.....
There's no way round this, unless you want to start mucking about with illegal hacked software and I wouldn't advise that at all considering the amount of grief it has caused people who've posted here in the past.

Be quick the "upto 50% off" sale on the TomTom website ends tomorrow!!

And once you've got it DO THAT BACKUP. (You see why we bang on about it all the time?)
