Having just got my 520 how I like it i now seem to have either developed a problem or changed a setting somwehere that is preventing certain announcements.
Eg - when connecting to my phone the nice voice used to say 'connected to mark' and the same would appear on the screen. Also, when clearing a route i used to get 'route cleared' out of the speaker.
All other sounds such as camera warnings and route directions work ok.
Can anyone shed any light or let me know which setting I have stupidy changed?
Thanks |

Stupid question....You are still using a "computer"/TTS voice aren't you?
Another possibility is that it just TomTom weirdness!
When I first got my 720, it announced "route cleared" a couple of times. Never done it since!
You could have a play with the two pages of options in Change Preferences/Voice Preferences/Speech preferences. 'Read aloud warnings' (as opposed to 'read aloud traffic warnings') maybe? |

Normal way is to buy an in-line cigarette lighter socket from Maplins etc and wire that behind the dash, then plug the normal TT adapter into that.
Car Accessory Skt FE42V
There are quite a few posts about it already if you 'search'.
There's a rather nice re-boxing described HERE
or Brodit now do a wire in version of their powered mount (but the DSL website seems to be under maintenance at the moment so I can't link to a pic.
The main thing to remember - you MUST have some method of reducing the 12V car supply down to 5V for the TomTom. Just cutting the cigarette lighter plug off and using that cable, means instant death to the TT. |
