Had my XL for a few months - used it striaght out of the box with the camera database and ogg voice files from here with no issues.

Connected to TT Home last night for first time - i'm now on v7.162

Problem is i inadvertently disabled the POI warning for one of the speed zoned gatso files. When i try to renable the warning it asks for a distance as normal, but entering any distance and pressing the OK button results in no action.

All other POI warnings work with the voice files exactly as they did before the software upgrade last night, so it can't see it being a voice file issue. The first time i tried it i did get a 'No Pictures' message, but only on the first occassion, and never since.

Any ideas ??

Got it sorted..

i did a reset with the button on the base.

Went back to the warn POI menu - when asked whether i wanted to use this sound i said no, entered the distance and then got the no pictures message again.

Did the rest again, this time said yes to the voice file and everything is fine once again !

Have you tried a Reset?

When you say 'but entering any distance and pressing the OK button results in no action ', do you mean it stays on the same menu screen?

Don't forget these are computers. As with all such beats, when they first start behaving oddly the first thing to try is a reboot or in the case of a TomTom or other SatNav a 'Reset'.

I've had similar issues on a couple of occasions and as you have discovered, a simple reset has so far always resolved the issue.

Lifeboat, which Speed Camera Database are you using the one from this site or TomTom's own? - Mike

This seems to assume that safety cameras are treated as POI's? but in the latest tomtom updates this is no longer the cas as far as i can gather?

Have a look in TomTom PLUS services there should be an icon called TomTom Safety Cameras, this should be where you set the warnings up AFAIK - Mike

Have another look at the topic Andy linked to. By putting the ogg files in the sounds folder, you can choose them from the screen showing the beeps etc. To keep things organised, the suggestion is to put them in a sub-folder there as shown.

Not having tried this (as I use the database from this site), I don't see why this wouldn't work with the TomTom cameras if you get the option to choose the sound. Someone can correct me if this is incorrect.

Thanks Mike and Gerry, I couldn't get on line tonight, but that's exactly what I'm saying.
Under v7 software you can now assign any of the stupid built in sound effectss to the TT camera warnings (done via the plus services menu, not the poi menu).
Also in v7, you can add your own sounds to that sound effects page, by putting them in the "sounds" folder.

Put those two facts together and Bingo!

(Cat much improved, thanks)
