I have just bought a Tomtom Go 520 which operates on version 7.220. Can anyone please tell me how to put this sites POI's on my Tomtom. Also is there a limit to what you can put on and how much at a time? I am running the GB mapping. Is there a suitable POI loader to do this or is it done manually

Sorry if this has been discussed before but I have searched and cannot find anything in this great site on it.

Thanks Esher Rolling Eyes

It's a manual albeit very simple process.

Download the POI's (each POI consists of a poiname.bmp file and a poiname.ov2 file) then copy these into the map folder on your device (i.e. Western_Europe or Great_Britain).

Presuming you mean from THIS PAGE...

The files come as a zip archive that needs expanding (just right click on it and select "extract all" if you are using Windows XP.

There is a bug that can corrupt the download if you either use the wrong combination of browser/firewall/virus checker or something. You may, or may not, need to use the "Show link" box next to the download button.

There is another bug that can mess things up if you try to add too many sub-sections all at once. Keep it to less than 21 (I think that's the magic number).

There is a limit on the number of user-POI categories you can have. On a 520 it is supposed to be 300, but you have to include in that number the TomTom supplied safety cameras (even if you don't use them the files are on your device when new) and any Mapshare POI corrections that you have subscribed to.
The way to check is to count the actual number of files ending in ".ov2" in your map folder with Windows Explorer (ignore anything TT Home may tell you).

No aside from the caveats about actually downloading the .zip files as Andy has explained above.

Thanks Lads - It worked a treat.

I put too many on at first and it lost the ones lower down the alphebetical list so I pruned out what I least reqired and I am back all the way down to Zoo again

Be careful.... it's not NECESSARILY the ones later in the alphabet that get missed off. The TT seems to decide at random which to ignore.
