Hi,
hope someone can give me some advice.
I just bought a TT 720 T
I like the unit but...
the first unit crashed after i updated the application right out of the box.
I did not know about backing up using windows explorer i 'relied' on Home 2.1 - big mistake.
a big red circle with a white cross.
so i took the unit back and got a replacement.
Same problem after i tried to update the application.
But the windows exploer backup solved this issue.
but i was stuck with version 7.020, TT suport told me to delete all the loose files from the root directory (but not any of the directories) of the 720 then use Home v2.1 to update the applicatoin.
unfortunatly as the first device was registered to my account i couldnt do it. So i created anouter account and updated the app to v7.221 - great.
But, there is always a but...
i can not get the TT cameras to show but i have camera files on my device, files like Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2.
but i cant see them when i drive past them.
I cant see them in the poi list.
I guess they are not standard poi files!
if i select TT plus service screen all i get is do i want to join this service message.
is this something to do with my device not being registered to my account so they are disabled?
Is ther any way of getting the device to see teh TT camera database?
should i have a years subscription to TT's safty camera database or is it a one off update?
is the Pocket GPS poi file a standard file?
could i transfer it to a new device if i have to replace this unit because of the usb problem i have, see below.
how big is the single Pocket GPS poi file? i only have 192 MB of space left on the device!
ALSO
USB conectivity.
i cant get the device to conect to my pc without having to reset it every time (a quick rest less than a second) before i put it in the usb docking station. i have asked TT support for advice but it willl be a few days before they gtet back to me. What a way to run a business.
Does anyone have any thought how to solve thsi issue. its a bit of a pain to have to reset it every time i want to put it in the docking station.
starting to wonder if a Garmin unit would have less issues!

Are you using the TomTom PLUS services Menu Item in the Main Menu? It should give you 2 pages of Options and on the first is TomTom Safety Cameras.

Yes.
Yes.
about 400KB so you won't lose much.

Try a longer Reset. 30 seconds.
Try a Reset to Factory Settings. It's in the Changes Preferences Menus on the last page.
If that doesn't help then we need a bit more info.
How far does it get before the connection problems start?
Do you get the question about connecting to the PC?
Do you try to connect it with Power on, or off?
Do you connect the USB before, or after using the cradle?
Have you tried a different USB Port? Are you using a hub? _________________ Richard

TT support have enabled my replacement device on my account and i have been able to get the TT cameras working.
But the USB problem;
the 30 second reset made no diference.
the reset to factory settings may have made a difference!
I can, most of the time, get it to connect by switcching on / off TT home and Switching on and off the 720, i an logging the method so i know what the procedue is, at the moment it seems a bit hit and miss.
I think there is definatly a problem with the device/hardware.
