Garmin have just released 4.20.
Upgrade looks worth doing if it actually does make the map refresh quicker.
Changes made from version 4.10 to 4.20:
Improved the map drawing speed.
Corrected issue with proximity points in areas with many roads causing the map to draw slower.
Corrected issue where all traffic delays were represented as 1 minute. |

Seems to be a bit crisper redrawing maps. Also - and this has only been checked on a short journey into work this am - the lag when not following a route doesn't seem as bad as it can do - but need to try it over a longer drive to be sure. _________________ Phil |

I've heard rumours that a reset of the device can speed things up too - so it might be that the firmware update naturally resets the device, which could explain the speed up. I guess the interesting point is to see if it remains faster after a few weeks... _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

Firmware 4.20 seems to be pretty stable and has definitely speeded up the map refresh rate as well as making the zoming in at junctions a bit more logical.
Only slight bug seems to be when you tap the "next turn" box it doesn't always display your next turn (just the full map screen).. |

If you listen to mp3's and have the pocket gps speedcamera database with mp3 voice files the 4.20 update will cause problems. It causes the mp3 to skip to the next track when the voice speedwarning goes off. Garmin are looking for another firmware update and have said they may pull the 4.20 update. |
