|
|
I'm trying to connect a TomTom 910 to my computer for the first time. I followed the instruction and installed the Home software, put the tomtom in the home dock, plugged the power into the dock so the unit was charging, plugged the USB cable into my computer and turned the tomtom unit on.
However nothing happens when I turn it on. The computer doesn't even find a device. The tomtom unit shows no signs of connection (should it?)
Any help or advice would be great
thank you |

When the USB cable is plugged in to your computer and you turn your 910 when on its stand does it come up with the message "Connect To Computer" Yes/No?
Also when on the cradle is the charging LED on (Top left of unit)?
If the answers to both of the above are no check you have the 910 fully down on its charge cradle.

Hi
thanks for your reply.
I don't get that message asking about connecting to the computer on my 910.
I do however get the green charging light on the unit when it's in the cradle. |

Keep a safety pin in the car so you can reset it should go wrong when out on a long trip, I often travel away from home for a few days at a time and therefore don't have access to the contents of my house, they don't go wrong too often but its better to be prepared than trying to improvise - Mike |

I've got the safety pin pinned to the soft case that comes with the 910. |

I'm having a similar problem with my 520T. My PC won't connect to the device unless I reboot the PC. If I reboot, dock my TT and switch it on it's fine. If I un-dock (after either 'disconnecting' via TT home or switching off the device first) and try to re-dock it doesn't recognize the device.
TT have e-mailed me a 'registry cleaner' but this does not appear to have worked. Does anyone have any advice at all? It's a pain having to re-boot everytime just to get them to talk to each other.
Thanks. |

Can I suggest you try the "Search" button above?
Type "usb connect to pc" (or a similar set of words) into the search box, select "Search for all terms" and restrict the search to just the TomTom GO/Rider/One section in the "Forum" drop-down box.
I get 38 matches, one of which should give you some useful advice. |
