Ipaq 3950 Bios update failure

Hi,
Im hoping someone can help me out. I tried upgrading my Ipaq 3950 from pocket PC 2002 to 2003. At the very last step the update failed and now i cant do anything with the PDA. All I get is a red screen with V0.48 and serial at the top of the screen. If i connect it to my laptop it changes from serial to USB. Ive tried a hard reset, soft reset, taken the ribbon cable out inside then plugged it in again.. but no luck.

It sounds like it is still in the upgrade process and you may have a fancy brick on your hands unfortunately. Have you tried a hard reset to see what happens? or even taking the battery out for a few hours?

What stage did it 'fail' on?

Incidentally - why from 2002 to 2003 when the HP website offers an upgrade path from 2002 to WM5?

I had the same experience with my Ipaq 3950, there is a company in the UK that repairs "Bricks" called Ipaqrepair which I used to restore back to v. PC2002, saves using it as a door stop !!
