|
|
Hi, pal at work had TTN5 running on his PALM via original TT SD card.
Card file system has been corrupted so he has various .CHK files in his folders and it no longer runs.
Would I be able to use my TT5 CD to re-install the files onto his SD card (or more likely a new one)? He would then use his existing activation key to activate the software.
Would this work or would he be better off calling TomTom support for a replacement (and what are the chances they'd be helpful?)?

| Does he not have his own CD?

They are very likely to ask for his product code _________________ TT Navigator 6.030 on Acer PDA.

Doesn't have his own CD 'cause product was bought on SD card (often the way for TT).
He will have both his product code and his activation code as it is a pukka version so does that make TT support the best option or wil they want to sell him an upgade or charge lots for a replacement SD card?
I thought using my CD and his codes would save him some hassle that's all.

It would most likely work. I think the software can be downloaded for free from TT's website anyway, Navigator 6.030 certainly can.
Then for DIY all he would need is the activation key for his existing map.
The software isn't keyed to any device but the maps are. _________________ TT Navigator 6.030 on Acer PDA.

It's only 'free' if you already have TTN6. Although TTN6 was 'given away' with an upgrade to V660 mapping (not free) late 2006. I think it was the same for TTN5

Your mate should be OK to use a CD to re-install. He will need his orig productcode to help get an activation code. _________________ Phil |

Hi,
All the applictation-SW (TT3, TT5 and TT6) can be donwloaded from the TT-Support site for free - they doesnt make any sense without the maps anyway, thats why imo TT let evereyone download it for free.
