So i bought a TomTom One XL off a friend, it only came with the unit and charger and dock, i downloaded the software TomTom home onto my computer and wanted to update and backup my tomtom, it woudnt let me backup for some reason, i tried copied the files via windows but the device woudnt let me copy, im not sure whcih version of tomtom one xl i have but there is a tomtom memory card in the sd slot. So i decided to proced with the update, once i finished it said everything went fine. I unpluged the usb and the tomtom screen comes up, then it has the bar reading the memory card i think, then the slash screen, then it turns off.
Ive tried resetting, and plying around with it, but cant do anything as i didnt get to backup, can someone help PLEASE.
Thank You |

See if the friend that you got it off, still has a back up on his PC, if not contact TomTom _________________ TomTom Go 700,

And what happens if you remove the memory card and reboot? _________________ Darren Griffin |

if i remove the memory card, it asks for a memory card, i tried asking my friend but he formatted computer since, i called tomtom and they said send the memory card into him and he will fix and send back, or try find a friend with tomtom and copy the memory card, dont know anyone who has one tho so im gonna send it in. |

And the moral of the story is... if you can't get a backup to work THAT'S when the alarm bells should start ringing in your head.
All the more reason NOT to start messing around, until you've worked out why you couldn't make that essential backup. |
