Just downloaded the 'Speed Zoned Complete' OV2 database (think that was the right one !!) and noted that the instructions advised that the 'detect along the route' should be deactivated on the 510 as any cameras off to one side of the may not be detected. So far so good.

Ticked all the boxes of the various cameras etc (gatzo, mobile) which appeared on the POI and went out on a day trip and . . . . every 5 minutes I was getting alerts !!! from positions where mobile cameras COULD be, but actually weren't on my route. Also any speed camera near a road that ran adjacent to the motorway i was on were also picked up.

I deselected all the mobile speed cameras initially on my TomTom BUT they were still picked up and alerts were sounding. I know I could delete them and that would solve the problem but not ideal.

So . . . is there anyway you can minimize the alerts from cameras in close proximity but not on your actual route AND is there a fix for the mobile camera alerts which activate when they have been deselected on the 510 ??

Thanks.

It sounds as if you have duplication of Files.

How many OV2 Files can you count in the Map Folder, with Explorer?

De-selecting the camera POI files is totally different to the Warn When Near POI option which actually gives you the warning.

The Enable/ Disable only selects whether the POI file is displayed on the map as you drive by default, the Warn when near will pop a warning up and issue an audio alert (spoken text is possible if loaded and configured correctly)

If you always drive with a route planned (I do as it removes a lot of the false camera warings) go back through each camera category in the Change Prefernces/ Manage POI/ Warn when near POI and do the following:

1/ Answer No to "Remove Warning"
2/ leave the distance as per your settings.
3/ leave the warning tone (if asked for) alone
4/ Select the "Warn Only if POI On Route" checkbox

The above setup will ensure you only receive warnings from cameras that are actually on the road you are driving on (there maybe the odd exception, but it will reduce the false alerts you are getting by a considerable margin.

Just bear in mind with the above settings if you don't plan a route you won't get a warning - Mike

So if i disable say, the portable cameras they shouldn't appear on the map?? I did disable (untick) them today and they still appeared with an audible noise.

Thats a pity. I go to many locations where I know the route but I can't remember all the speed camera locations !! Seems a shame the only work around is to plan the journey.

When I bought the 510 it had speed cameras (fixed) and they alerted you whether you had a route planned or not. I updated the software recently and it deleted all the cameras. Nice Sad.

Thanks for the info though it will certainly help.
