 Mio have announced a handful of new units to be launched at IFA in early September. Of the five new units to be reported two will utilise 3D terrain mapping and buildings.
The C620 and C620t are possibly the first PNDs to use the new 3D mapping from Tele Atlas. The new MioMap 2008 software is based on NavNGo's iGO MyWay software which is also due for release later this year.
Information is scarce at the moment other than the C620 and C620t both feature 4.3inch widescreen touchscreen displays, bluetooth for handsfree calling and MP3 player. The only difference, it seems, is that the 't' is for Traffic Module.

Mio Technology launches new devices at IFA
Mio Technology Europe, number three vendor in Europe of portable navigation devices, will be showing its new devices, C620, C620t, P560, P360 and C230, at IFA in September along with the C320 and C520t from its current range. The C620t is a TMC version of the C620. IFA is the world’s largest consumer electronics trade show, being held between 31 August and 5 September in Berlin. Mio Technology will also be present with their stand in hall 4.2, stand 113.
The C620 and C620t, from Mio Technology’s new product range, feature the new MioMap software, MioMap 2008, which includes the latest Tele Atlas maps with elevation models and 3D landmarks. Paul Notteboom, president of Mio Technology says “Mio Technology prides itself on offering the latest features in its products to customers. Customer feedback has also indicated that people would like to see more detailed geographical information while driving.”
Mio Technology’s C620 and C620t will be the first products with digital elevation models and the new MioMap software on the market. The digital elevation maps and 3D landmarks offer users faster recognition of map locations and a 3D display of maps. The C620 and C620t feature a 4.3” widescreen display and split-screen view.
The new MioMap 2008 software sports a new user interface with a redesigned main menu, making it easier and more intuitive to use than before. The split screen view, along with providing routing information, will also make it easier to navigate to other features of the device such as Music to listen to your saved MP3 files and Phone to quickly dial your contacts. Users will now also be able to plan their journey well ahead in advance of leaving.
Following the P550 and P350, the P560 and P360 promise even better PDA functionality. Windows Mobile 6 offers improved time and calendar management and faster access to contacts. Memory can be expanded on the PDAs upto and even more than 4 GB with SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity enabling SD cards to reach higher capacities) support. The P360 and P560 will be available with MioMap v3. The P560 also features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Building on the success of the C220, the C230 offers great value for money. Available with MioMap v3 and with Tele Atlas maps of the 22 countries in Western Europe, the C230 remains extremely affordable and is perfect for users who are new to GPS navigation or those looking for a second device for the family.
All of the five new devices feature a 400 Mhz processor, 20 channel SiRFstarIII GPS receiver and out-of-the-box speed camera alerts.* The products have retained the slim and compact design that has made the current range so popular, and thus remain handy to carry around in a handbag or pocket for the users.
*Note: Speed camera availability is variable from country to country depending on the local law. Consumers receive one year of speed camera locations for free upon registration. |

| Anyone know what happened to the "coming soon" Navman unit posted on PocketGPS back a few months ago, the link here being they are now from the same stable as Mio? |

that was on their display at CeBIT - not seen anything since but if they're at IFA at the end of the month i'll certainly try to find out!

Looks good seanm, impressed with the 3d terrain!
Anyone rate the mapping (navigation) of the new Mio compared to Navigon (in my opinion the best voice guidance), Navman or Garmin for instance as while it's nice to have something look good, it needs to work too! |

I've run my Mio alongside a TomTom and Toyota built-in unit and the consensus was that the Mio won hands down on flexibility, guidance and speed of re-routing.
It all depends upon what you're used to and exactly what you're looking for in a GPS, but I'd definitely be tempted by another Mio.
