Ok, I have a TT 910 but I do like the look of the new TT 720's therefore I am thinking of getting one. As I like to have the maps from the US from the 910, is there anyway I could get an SD card and load them on there and use on the new 720?
Thanks |

Same question as HERE really, although with the extra step of copying from your 910's harddrive.
I assume you still get a product code number for the map when you buy a 910? |

Thanks for the reply.
Yes I still have the product code so I assume I can then just copy it using TT home? Or do I have to do something else to get it off the HD?
Thanks |

I hope you've already got a backup on your PC! - So you should be able to simply copy and paste it from there to the new unit (SD card or internal memory if it's big enough.
If you haven't done a backup, PLEASE do one straight away before you even think of doing anything else.
Don't use Home, it has a tendency to miss bits out of it's backups, use the instructions HERE |

Thanks for your help with the backup instructions. I do already have backups but I wasn't aware of the problems with TT Home.
Now I have my full backup do I just have to copy the US maps to the SD Card or are there other files required as well?
Thanks |

Can't say for certain, as the 720 isn't officially released yet, so very few people have seen one...
On the "ONE" new edition with the 1GB internal memory, it uses EITHER the memory OR the SD card, so if you put a map on a card you also have to add all the system files. (Daft!).
However, PGPSW have had a preview of the 720 and I read on here that TomTom have sorted it out so the 520/720 can use both the memory and the SD card simultaneously, so you would only need the map itself.. |

Really? I find that hard to believe but I suppose I may be proved wrong (one day) |

Told to us on this forum by one of the PGPSW team who has an early review model. Too tired to search out the quote tonight! |

It was I and I can confirm that the model I have (sample, not review) can use both internal and external memory simultaneously. However, as this is a sample and not a production unit, this might change. Let's hope not. _________________ Tim |

You can have as many activated maps on the device as you want, but only one map will be set as active (the one currently in use, switching between activated maps is easy - Change Preferences/ Manage Maps/ Switch Map) - Mike |
