|
|
I've installed TomTom Navigator 6 on my P3600 with the maps for Europe on one mini SD and USA & Canada on another. All appeared to be working fine - until after I'd installed the Speed Camera Database for Europe and the UK.
TT now intermittently freezes - although sometimes self free's itself and carries on. Suspect it may be a memory issue. Anyone know of a workaround for this - perhaps uninstall the Europe (but not UK) speed cameras? It would also be useful to know how much memory TTN6 needs and how much extra is required for the speed cameras.
Thanks |

Welcome to the forum, simply disable all the POI so they don't show on the map as this consumes huge processor power, set up the Warn When Near POI for each camera category you have got installed and I think you will find the device will work fine (Change Preferences/ Manage POI/ Warn When Near POI) - Mike |

Hi Mike
Thanks for the advice. I've changed the speed camera poi's so they dont 'display' but have left to notify. I was concerned this might mean the speed notifications would not display - but thankfully they still do along with the warning tones - guess its just the positioning on the map that gets delayed until the selected distance for the notification.
I can confirm the change appears to have cured the original freezing problem.
Thanks again

Mike
I spoke too soon. TT is still freezing up although less frequently. Do you happen to know what the minimum memory requirement is - I have 24.26 program memory free (and 27.05 mb storage free).
Thanks |

Check you don't have any other programs running in the background as this can mess up the device at times (Start/ Settings/ Memory_Running programs tab and select Stop ALL).
To be honest I don't know how much free memory is needed to run the program, but what you have is considerably more free memory than I do so there must be something else wrong - what is the read/ write speed of your memory card - Mike |

Your memory sounds fine for the job so cannot help on a cure. However I occassionly suffer freezing with HTC and TTN6 and find pressing the coms hotkey and then closing the coms page unfreezes it, takes one second, but I agree its frustrating. |
