There are an AWFUL LOT of gantries going up (all around London at least) for multiple "big brother" Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras.
We all recognise these ones:
but here are the most recent ones that use silver coloured single armed gantries, a bit like SPECS ones and with 3 or 4 cameras, one pointing at each lane (but dangling BELOW the arm).
Just a reminder, these aren't SPECS average speed measuring cameras at all, so please don't send them in to confuse the database.
Only this one is a SPECS system (note the "Bat" logo in the corner of the arm):

Sorry Andy_P2002, I haven't found the image you require, but i had this site on ANPR book marked and thought it could be interesting for others. _________________ TomTom Go 60

HaHa, yep, I saw that one in my searches yesterday. Felt sure one of the "Who's spying on us" type sites would have a picture of them by now. Came away quite paranoid in the end! |

I'm not sure you want just the gantry style image as these things can go anywhere, see Here
Take a look at the last page of the pdf file and concider the image of the camera on the sign for the time being. _________________ Dom

I've seen something similar outside Stanstead Airport. _________________ Richard

There's loads around here going up on traffic lights too.
But my issue was the ones that look a lot more like specs installations that are getting mis-reported.
I might have to take my own photo (and endure the scathing looks from my wife! ) |

OK, here's some pictures of the new ANPR camera gantries that are going up all over my area.
THESE ARE NOT SPECS. Please don't submit them to the speed cam database

Same with Gatwick and Heathrow. I guess that all the major airports have these ANPR cameras now.... _________________ Gone fishing! |

According to the news yesterday they are going to use these ANPR cameras in a big way to watch all our car movements.
It started off with illegal cars, then terrorists and now is extending to all criminal movements, it has been hinted that if they are tracking a vehicle and you are unlucky enough to be the next car behind, you could also be pulled in as a suspect. 8O

As I am referring to the Daily Mail here, I apologise if the source isn’t reliable.
Interesting story angle though. _________________ TomTom Go 60
