I recently relaced my Acer35 with a newer one with a newer operating system. Since I have done this my TomTom jumps all over the map whilst I am driving. It will then flit back to the right road and then go away again How can I stop this?

Sounds like the GPS is not getting a lock on sufficient sats to get an accurate location and the 'lock to road' function in TomTom is fighting to position you correctly. How many sats are locked when this is happening? (Show GPS Status from Change Settings in TomTom - or tap the sat 'strength' meter). Given a relatively clear view of the sky I would expect this to resolve itself over a 5-10 minute period.

It helps if you get a good lock (5+ stats would be OK) before driving - it's more difficult to get the initial lock when moving. Turning the unit on a couple of mins before setting off will normally do the trick.

I had this problem as well but found that it was ok when the unit was plugged into the car charger so I could only assume that the unit is not really powerful enough for TT6

Thanks for your reply.

You are right it seems to hold the signal and route if plagged in. The problem is that the ACER35 is very weak at the plug in point. I have already brocken on in the past and am worried that driving around with it plugged in will Knacker it.

Thanks for your reply.

I get 5 or 6 Sats with almost max strength so it should be OK. The system works if plugged into the charger but I am worried that with the weak docking point on the Acer35 it will break.

Glad you found the problem - seems sort of wierd though. Perhaps the GPS chipset used needs more volts than the battery can supply?[/quote]
