TTN v5 or 6 - How to show the current street on bottom pane?

Am I missing something or is this feature perhaps broken in TT5/6?

If I select the status bar preference option to display the street name, is this supposed to display the *current* street or the *next* street?

All it ever seems to show me is the *next* street name.

How does this differ from the name preference setting to display the next roadway? As they are worded differently, I'd expect that they would not be the same thing (aside from the location on the screen that is)...

In any situation, when I am navigating somewhere (as opposed to simply tracking my position on the map), how do I show the current street name?

I can't possibly believe that the app can't do this? That seems to be such a basic function of any navigation app that I *must* be missing something right?

The bottom of the screen shows the next street name during navigation.
When not in navigation mode it shows the current street name.

If you want to find your current location during navigation mode, tap the screen and it's in the lower right corner showing current position.

Seems like a waste, not to mention redundant functionality, in the two areas.


Also seems a strange choice to make you have to touch the screen to see this info, but I guess that's the way it is...

It's down to keeping the navigation screen uncluttered. In navigation mode the important thing is to know the next manouver - it assumes you 'know' where you are :D
