Nokia6680 tomtom maps

N00bie here. I have been given a Nokia 6680 with tomtom5 installed, on a 1GB card. I also have a tomtom Rider with full European maps and I was wondering if it would be possible to install the European maps on my phone.

You can't do that - you will have to buy the maps for the phone.

BTW - you will find that you have almost certainly an illegal set up there. TomTom don't allow transfer of their s/w from one person to another. You will have real problems getting support and new maps - as the product would have been originally registered in the original owners name - or worse still - be an illegal copy off the net.

Thanks for that, I thought that may be the case.

The phone belonged to a policeman so I'm assuming the software is legal 8)

I bought my rider second hand and had no problem with tomtom support once I'd registered it with them when I bought USA/Canada maps.

I can't see why tomtom can't recognise a new owner if the original owner tells them he has sold/given away a product with their software on, together with the product code. I recognise that they are trying to protect their product and I have no qualms about that but there should be a way of recognising a transfer of ownership even if a small fee was involved.
