I've made a Depeche Mode inspired silent voice skin, Enjoy The Silence.
You'll find it here: http://larserikjohansson.spaces.live.com

Thanks for that, Lars...
You say that the audio used in this voice skin was was painstakingly sampled from the silence between tracks from the 1990 Violator album.
I'm afraid the silence sounds a bit 'digital' to me. Could you possibly do an alternative version from an earlier album (Simon and Garfunkel's "Sounds of Silence" for example) to give a more analogue "warmth" to the silence?
Classical music buffs may of course prefer an excerpt from John Cage's piano piece "4 minutes 33 seconds".... |

I agree that the digital harshness of the Enjoy The Silence voice skin can get tiresome to the ears.
There was, just like you pointed out, a need for a warmer more soft silent voice skin. So based upon your great idea I'm proud to say that the Sounds Of Silence voice skin is now available. :D

Since I had my CDs stolen, I wonder if you could do one from Shostakovich's Waltz Number 2 from The Jazz Suite? Or perhaps from the Gilbert and Sullivan Medley from Black Dyke Mills Brass Band? _________________ Dennis

That would be Breathless Brass, and all the deep breaths taken during the recordings. :D _________________ Dom

It seems the need for silent voice skins are soon something of the past. Yahoo! :D
I'm only guessing but I think it's quite likely that the "Disable Voice" will be there for other TomTom models as well.
