How do I "record" a route for use in a car club event? I'd like to map out the route and have the nuvi record it as I drive it, so that I can play it back during the actual event.

Will it require that I set a waypoint at each turn? Seems tedious at best.

Crying or Very sad

Do you have mapsource installed on your PC. If so just create the route in that, you can then upload it to your Nuvi

That is the issue, the nuvi did not come with any PC map software, was it supposed to?

I went to the Garmin site and it looks like I have to purchase it - doesn't seem right after spending all that money on the nuvi 660 ?????

I don't think you can upload routes to Nuvis.

If you are right, that means I spent a lot of money on something that doesn't work as well as Microsoft Streets or older Garmin's . BUMMER!

Update - Mapsource is now on my PC (downloaded from the Garmin site free - but they don't make it easy. Still, now with map source I need the Map. WTF, is it so difficult for them to supply a map with the unit?

I'm sending them an email today and hope to get a reply early next week.

Why on earth would they supply maps with the less expensive units and not the 660? Poor marketing if you ask me. Anyone with an older unit would sure pick up on that in the sales literature prior to upgrading no?

Well you don't get mapsource with i3, unless you get the mapping update....
