What software version is your Go running?
All I can guess is that TomTom changed the directory structure a long time ago, because if I look back at an early backup of my Go300, there are lots of folders:
Great_Britain-Map
itn
Licences
ppp
schemes
Script
SdkRegistry
tomtom
TomTom-Cfg
voices
zip
Now I know I've added some of them (schemes and Sdkregistry for example), itn stores itineraries, so might not be created until you make your first itinerary. Script has a demo for shops in it that might only hve appeared for the new models. But the others, - voices, Licences, ppp, etc. were certainly there from new.
Have Windows do a search for a file called "data04.chk" (and .vif), "data05.chk" (and .vif). They are the default male and female English voices, which you must have if you can hear the instructions! Where ARE they, if not in a folder? |

v1.21
when i put the sd card in card reader i havethe 2 folders ive mentioned above. plus all the files you mentioned DATA15.DHK ...ect...ect and norm.vif...ect.ect around 20/30 of them. tried pasting the new voice i have into there but when i plug sd card back into the tomtom the voice isnt there.
using original 128mb sd card.
EDIT, i have now just deleted ALL OTHER COUNTRY voices, added the new voice i have STILL not showin on the tomtom. Ive already done this successfully on my go 510 but it just wont work on the other 1! |

Take a look at the thread listed below, it refers to voice import problems on the PDA version of tomtom, but i still think its relevant. You need to delete the .ini file mentioned in the thread to get tomtom to see the newly installed voices.

v1.21
Really? I've never heard of anything less than v4!
That's the number you get if you tap the satellite strength bars and look in the box below the battery symbol?
Might be time for a backup and update, if it is... |

Good set of instructions there!
So the directory structure WAS radically different on the Classic.
Have to remember that one... |
