Hi,I have an 'original' i3, one that came with a TF card.
Using POILoader I can load the camera database plus all the other POIs knocking around, Petrol Macdonalds etc.
I have just got a refurbished unit from gpsw.co.uk which has been mentioned here in these forums. This came without the TF card, and when trying to load the POIs I get insufficient space.
Is it as simple as just copying the POIs to a new TF card and inserting that.?
I had bought a 1GB card a while back to backup my original only to find that that was not possible. When I put it in the second i3 it stated it could not unloack the maps.
So is just a format and load of the TF card in order?
TIA? |

Just format the card then install the POI files you need to the card, do not exceed the 85 custom POI limit on the i3 otherwise you will have great difficulties.
Pop the TF card in the card reader and POILoader should find it - upload the POI direct to the card then put the card in the device - Mike |

Thanks Mike,
I did that, but it does not appear to give me the locations inside the csv file. On my original I have Maplins and stores for Stevenage and Luton.
In the second i3 I get 'No Matches Found'
I have 68 csv files including the sites cameras. |

Update.
Called Garmin, who cannot explain why. They stated that the i3 can only deal with about 1.5Mb of pois anyway, no matter what size card you have, so to just put them on the unit.
Not much of an explanation I know, but that is what they reckon.
I *might* just send it back, if it is unable to handle what my original i3 can handle.
Talk about progress, you'd think the newer items would be better not worse. |

I do not have the unit with me at present (I'm home for the weekend).
It states nnnnn pois loaded sucessfully when I use POILoader and it creates a file called poi.gpi (from memory) in a garmin folder on the card.
I was going to see if the csv files had their contents on the card, but as you can see they get converted to a garmin format.
More attempts next week. |

Finally got it sorted.
I uploaded just the cameras to the unit, still nothing in them.
Reset the unit with the three button push. (has anyone tried the 2 button push (miss out the wheel) very scary, with a square diminishing into the centre after all the settings. Anyway I digress.
Cameras now appeared without any new load. Loaded all poi files (39444) to card and inserted that, and now it recognises the pois on the card, as well as a second set of cameras, but hey it now works as it should.
Thanks to those who tried to help, and perhaps this can help someone else later on. |
