Connect BT GPS & GPRS service to IPAQ H5550

I used to connect my IPAQ (running TomTom Nav 5) to a BT GPS receiver (TomTom variety) and to my P900 via BT to download traffic updates over GPRS. Having upgraded to a P990 I cant get both BT connections (ie to GPS reciever and GPRS service) to keep running. After about 1 minute the GPRS connection is dropped. If I try to reconnect it then it either refuses or more often it drops the GPS connection.

If I connect the IPAQ just the GPS then its fine or if I just connect the IPAQ to the P990 GPRS service its also fine but trying to do both at the same time is no good. Since all works fine with the P900 I assume this is a setup issue with the P990.
