Your Internet Security Settings are TOO HIGH!
If you have just tried to access the Comparison Databases and you have been taken to this page, it is because you have some internet security software installed that's blocking access to the Comparison Databases page. You may have Norton Internet Security, or Norton Personal Firewall, or Zone Alarm, or other software that blocks access to HTTP REFERRER.
Why is your site the only one affected ?
Quite simply it's not. HTTP REFERRER is used mainly when using web forms from one page to another to stitch together the information supplied into a single form. It could be used when you fill out a web form to pass the details you entered to the next page to complete the form, or it could be used on an online shopping cart. Just because you don't see any problems, it doesn't mean it's not affecting you! HTTP REFERRER isn't a massive security hole, and many websites use it like we do to make sure we can allow you to add/remove products in the comparison and to add/remove features.
What should I do ?
Blocking HTTP REFERRER will cause problems with our database, so we would recommend you reconfigure your internet security software to enable HTTP REFERRER. If you don't like doing this for all websites, then we ask that you add an exclusion in for the domain that you are accessing us by at the moment. Mostly www.pocketgpsworld.com and www.pocketgpsworld.com, that's it! Follow the instructions below.
Please follow these instructions for either Norton Internet Security, Norton Personal Firewall or Zone Alarm to allow access to our Comparison Databases.
Norton Internet Security/Norton Personal Firewall Instructions
1. Open Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.
2. In NIS/NPF 2003, click Options > Internet Security or Personal Firewall (This step is not always needed), and then click the Web Content tab.
3. In NIS/NPF 2004, double-click Privacy Control, and then click Advanced.
4. Click Add Site. A new site/domain box appears.
5. Enter the name of the site that you want to receive the referrer information and click OK. In this example, it will be www.pocketgpsworld.com. The site name appears in the left frame of the Options window.
6. Click the name of the new site.
7. Click the Global Settings tab.
8. In the "Information about visited sites" section, clear "Use default settings."
9. Click Permit.
10 Click OK to close the Options window.
Zone Alarm Pro Instructions
1. Open Zone Alarm Pro
2. Click Privacy.
3. Click Cookie Control.
