|
|
Hi folks,
I have searched thoroughly but cannot find this anywhere so....
I have a Nuvi 300 and have been messing around with it and maps of Europe. Getting extra maps on is easy, but how the devil do I remove them again and just leave myself with the UK & Ireland base maps. The internal memory is almost full (should have bought as SD card first I suppose)
best regards and thanks. |

I thought old maps were deleted when you loaded new ones, so if you now load UK & Ireland that's all there will be on the unit. _________________ Anita

Hmmmm,
Thanks Anita, now the unit says it only has v9 UK & Ireland, but the internal memory has 396 mb used and only 19mb free. I thought there would have been a lot more free space with only the above maps installed? |

Just thought I would update this....
After installing a bit if Italian map from mapsource onto the SD card, a single file named gmapsupp.img appeared.
When I checked the internal memory of the unit itself there was also a file of the same name.
Assuming the gmapsupp.img was an addition (supp = supplementary?) I copied it off the internal memory and started up the unit, then lo, maps are fine and free space has appeared! |

No, gmapsupp.img is the file containing all the mapping installed to the unit or card. _________________ Anita

I have double checked Anita and the mapping it places on the sd card has the same file name & extension and can be deleted off the card with no effect on the main maps.
Without the file the unit is still working fine and I have the right amount of free space now, but lesson learned so everything will go on the sd card from now on.
regards. |

The gmapsupp.img file on the unit contains all the maps on the unit and the gmapsupp.img on the card contains all the maps on the card. It is not a file of supplementary maps.
But as the unit's woking Ok now it doesn't really matter! :D _________________ Anita
