You won't. It doesn't work like that.

Programs like POILoader and EasyGPS will be able to see it though....

you can check it is detected by right-clicking on 'my computer', properties, hardware, device manager

there should then be a tab for "Garmin USB GPS" (or similar)

Hi,

The tab is there for sure, byut it's not visible on the explorer tree when I plug it in. How do I install the POI's to the map if that's the case?

You use POIloader from http://www.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-00434-00

Thanks guys, I've now successfully installed via POI loader. I'd had an i3 for several months last year, but sold it and bought myself a tomtom 510 for its handsfree phone facility and had forgotten the procedure. The new i3 is for my daughters to use in the car they share. The i3 is just as good as a navigational device and locks on to satellites much, much quicker. Much less obtrusive and obvious to the thieves too.
