But as we’re losing ad-revenue from this then why not make a donation towards website running costs?. Or you could disable your ad-blocker for this site. We think you’ll find our adverts are not overbearing!

I have just bought this unit, which comes with WE map vesion 650.1136. On HP's website, this version is available for download, plus the canary islands. I have installed the latter, but wonder if there is any difference between the WE map on my unit, and the downloadable one. Should I bother? _________________ HP rx5935, 2GB SD Card, TTN 6.1, GPSDash
Not sure I'm understanding your question. Are you asking if the downloadable map that is the same as the one you already have is the same same as the one you already have? Haven't you just answered your own question?

The latest WE map is v675 so yours is a little out of date, If you are looking at getting this map from HP then check with them as to the exact release they are offering for download as it might not be the 675 version - Mike

To check the version of your existing WE map, tap on the "Satellite Reception Graph" on your map screen, then tap the "Version Button" this will show you, amongst other things, the map version.
[Edit]
OK, sorry, that only gives you the "650" part!
Explore your map folder and look for a file with the extension "pna", open this in notepad and the "Build=nnnn" line will give you the rest. If the version that you have is 650.1136 and that is the one that is available for download from HP, then I'd have to conclude that they are the same map.

Thanks for that - the version I have is the same as that offered for download. HP's customer advisory says:
DESCRIPTION
Some HP iPAQ rx57xx or rx59xx Travel Companions may not have a map or GPS application on them, or the application has become corrupted.
Symptoms:
* TomTom Navigator 6 does not have the latest streets or destinations.
* Maps cannot be accessed for GPS navigation.
* Neither map nor GPS application is loaded.
so there have been 'issues' at some point _________________ HP rx5935, 2GB SD Card, TTN 6.1, GPSDash
