This might not be the best place to post this question, but I would like to think that I will get some genuinly honest responses.

I have just got a tomtom one and want to add a poi speed camera database. TomTom offer a free 1 month trial of their service which I am tempted to go for. I however am not sure if this will affect the pocketgps db if I were to use it in the future.

The prices for a year of both are the same £19, so why should I go for the pocketgps db over the official one?

Thanks in advance for any information or advice.

This gets asked often.
Obviously you might expect views to be a little biased here, but the vast majority of people who have tried both (you can have them working side by side on your machine if you wish) say that the PGPSW one is vastly superior.
It has more categories, is updated much more often and is more flexible in setting up.
The TT one warns at a fixed distance, the same for every speed (which is daft!) and can only have a single beep as the alert sound, while the PGPSW one (or any other one that uses the standard POI system) can be set up to warn earlier at higher speeds and can have vocal warnings telling you the speed limit.
But the main difference is the TT one simply misses loads of cameras!
To save me typing any more, and to get other opinions, you could try a search of previous posts using keywords like "Compare" "Database" "Speed camera" etc. This should get you plenty of hits.
