Will work fine, but you will need at least a 1 meg SD card if you want to use the seamless western Europe Maps. _________________ Graham.

Another question re the XDA 2s. I assume that it connects to multiple bluetooth devices - so if a call is recieved whilst using TT6, you take it and continue to have sat nave functionality? Sorry if its a stupid question, but I've no expereience of XDA yet but am hoping to get a 2s shortly. _________________ XDA Orbit (the best so far)

I don't have TTN6 on my IIs its still running vs5,21 but it can still use the BT GPS and BT Headset at the same time, when in call mode the TomTom software goes to mute so it doesn't issue spoken prompts or alerts, but you can still see the screen.
Having had the IIs for just over 18 months its proven to be a decent PDA style phone once you remove the O2 Active Interface software, I came very close to getting rid of my IIs after three weeks of hell, all due to O2's Active Interface.
If its got this loaded simply hard reset the device (before you do anything with it) let it load up and towards the end you get the option of personal or Corporate install, choose Corporate and enter the code 0506 that prevents the rubish from loading.
You will also need a car charger cable and holder for the unit running TTN5 or 6 on just the PDA battery won't last for very long - Mike |

Tyhanks very much indeed for the advice Mike. I've gone ahead and purchased a IIs now. One question - how is the speaker volume on the unit for TT? _________________ XDA Orbit (the best so far)

Very good, I found no need to amplify the output, with the TTN sound set to around 90% it was easily heard above the other noise in the car, overall its one of the better devices I have used over the years.
The capability of phone and PDA combined is great, the display size, memory and processor speed still beat many new devices - there are better newer units available, but the IIs can still hold its own IMHO.
The best add on I got for the device was a double life battery, OK it adds to the weight but the device can go for a couple of days normal usage without a charge; like THIS One for example, the colour might not match the device, but the extra duration is handy at times - Mike |

Thanks again Mike. I was not sure of the XDA 2s compared to the 2i but you've put my mind at rest! _________________ XDA Orbit (the best so far)

If you source a long life battery for any device check it has the same dimensions if you use a cradle. I purchased an extended life battery for my old M2000 which arrived (despite the picture) with a considerable amount of bulk at the back meaning that if I wanted to put it in the cradle I had to put the old standard battery back on. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

I've got TT6 working (with BT connection easily done), but has anyone had any problems installing a BT headset? My Bluetrek G2 is seen by the XDA, but WILL NOT connect afterwards.....any thoughts? I know its outside of a gps query, but can anyone point me in the right direction? _________________ XDA Orbit (the best so far)

I have just resolved an issue others may have with TT6 installation affecting Bluetooth earpiece functionality.
Actually, I found the answer on the net after literally days of searching!.
If you have installed TT6, it will overwrite at least one bluetooth dll file. This can prevent other BT devices functioning after TT6 install. On my XDA 2s, I was able to pair my bluetrek G2 headset, but not connect. The answer is to re-name the "BtCoreIf.dll" file in the PDA wndows file to ""BtCoreIfold.dll".
Immediately, I had my BT earpiece functinality back.
Sorry if you knew this, but there you go. I'd like to thank the XDA- developers.com site for this fix!. _________________ XDA Orbit (the best so far)

Just a little extra re-assurance to anyone thinking about running TT Navigator 6 on a XDA 2.
When I first started running it, there was a noticible difference in speed ( obviously slower than version 5), so I used a copy of XCPUscalar to perk the XDA up a little.
I now have TT Nav 6 running faster the Nav 5 used to , with no problems at all. |
