|
|
I sent this query a few days ago but have had no replies. Perhaps i am commiting some fundamental breach of forum etiquette and am being justly ignored. If so, deeply sorry.
However my problem remains..
I have downloaded the PocketGPSWorld speed camera data into my nuvi Custom POIs.
I know that the data is in the nuvi Custom POIs, but I do not get any alerts when I drive past speed cameras locations.
My nuvi manual tells me to turn on proximity alerts in the system settings, but there is no option showing in the system settings for proximity alarm on/off.
Any suggestions? |

Go to System (the spanner) and then scroll down and select Proximity Alerts - what options do you have, and are they ticked or not?
Now from there, click on Audio, again what options do you have and which one is selected?
What version of the Nuvi software/firmware do you have? (Spanner, Settings, About)? |

Swing, thank you for replying.
My Nuvi 360 softwear is version 3.30. The Audio Version is 1.10
Going to System the options and my settings are: WAAS/EGNOS:Off. Safe Mode:Off. Garmin Lock:Off. Key Tones:On.
That is all that is showing. I do not have a Proximity Alerts option.
There is no Audio option in System but on the main screen below the spanner symbol is there is a speaker symbol which takes you to the screen for Volume Adjust / Mute / and screen brightness. I have no problems setting the audio on and hearing verbal directions. |

which version of the database did you install? it sounds like you might have used the gpsr map overlay. you need to use poi loader and either the consolidated by type file or the speed zoned file.

So right, I didnt scroll down in the System. Have done it now and
Scrolled down to Proximity Alerts. The settings are Custom pois checked and Garmin Safety Cameras checked. Audio is set to continuous - speed alerts.
I selected express mode when I used the garmin poi loader. Is that the option you are refering to? Have to drive from liverpool to cambridge now...carefully. will check back tomorrow. |

That all sounds correct to me. When POI Loader finished, how many POIs did it say it had transferred (if you remember)? |

Okay, so it looks like the speed cameras copied across ok, and your Nuvi is set up correctly to alert you, but you say it doesn't alert you.
Firstly, what location are you using to test it? What speed is the speed camera at that location, and how fast are you driving past it? |

Swing
Last night I deleted all the Favorites and POIs from the nuvi memory. Then ran the poi loader and transfered the PocketGPSWorld.com Speed Camera Database.
Took it on the road today and.. it works. Alerts come up. Had to drive about 140 miles so it got a good run.
Thank you for your posts and leading me through the system. Seems to be resolved. Don't know why my first download wouldn't work but now its OK. |

Although it's strange (whatever) happened, I'm glad to hear it's working properly now. |
