Hi.
Can you convert and upload garmin or other device poi's into a c710? If yes, how, and btw, where can you find 3-rd party poi's? (or garmin).
Thanks |

it may be possible as garmin use csv. you can simply change the extension to .asc which i understand the mio can accept.
we have an extensive collection of pois on this site

I'm trying to work this out now. I'm about 50% of the way through and will update you when complete.
MaFt is correct, you have to use the garmin from the POI site but unfortunately as the individual POI title on PGPSW are so long you cannot import it straight to the MIO as the text will be unreadable.
i.e.
-4.70393,50.47497,Premier Travel Inn (PL31 2AR T:08701 977 107)+448701977107"
if the above poi is imported "Premier Travel Inn (PL31 2AR T:08701 977 107)+448701977107"
the MIO will try to display the whole sentence on 1 line and will adjust its resolution to accomodate the amount of charaters.
So far I have changed the format so you will only see the Lon, Lat, POIName in ASC format. As the telephone numbers are not in a constant field i cannot import it so it has been negated. I will then change it to google earth format (kml) so that it can be merged into 1 file then merged back to the MIO.
When I have done this I will post instructions. |

Ernest,
You are correct in what you say but the main problem is the POIs from PGPSW are not in the most friendly format for the MIO.
I was going to refer Mihilc to the forum that you mentioned for importing the POIs to the MIO, I was just dealing with the cleaning up exercise here.
(Thats unless I've got the wrong end of the stick) |
