On the speed camera database the files are tomtom.ov2 files and these work on a tomtom go 300. I now use a tomtom go 510. and I note on its maps it has speed camera places as tomtomOv2.ver as well as tomtom.ov2 .What are these .ver files and will the new sites on the speed camera database that do not have .ver files still work satisfactorily

Tom Tom have changed the way they handle speed cameras and have given you a free database of them. If I remember rightly, in the UK you get 6 camera types from them - 30mph, 40, 50, 60, 70 and "Other". The Others cover anything not included in the 30 - 70mph ones (guess? - mobiles, temps, specials??). They have 3 files per camera - .OV2, .BMP and .VER.
The camera files you download from here (pgpsw) work in exactly the same way as on your 300. If you've been accustomed to having the speed zoned ones from here (or even the single consolidated file ones for that matter), you're not going to like the Tom Tom ones!!
If/when you decide to dump the TT cameras, you need to delete them from the map folder - assuming you have done a backup of your shiny new 510 (and if you haven't, take that! ), you can always restore them if you get withdrawal symptoms. _________________ Dennis
