I have been asked to post a message by a member who has a hearing problem. He cannot hear the warning beep on his Navman even when it is turned up to the highest. He has to rely on the visual warning but as we all know, without the sound prompt, it is unlikely that the visual warning is going to be noticed.
I am told (?) that on the Road Angel a speed warning is flashed up on the screen in large characters/numbers. That would be an ideal innovation.
I appreciate that the Navman devices are primarily for navigation & that the safety camera warning is added additionally and that this does not override the requirement of driving safely and within the law. It's just a matter of providing a service to those who need it.
How about it Navman
And, for members, is there any way to hack a device to make the speed limit warning larger ![Question](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_question.gif) _________________ Gee-Pee

Given Navmans record of listening to customer requests, A more achieveable option would be to use the external speaker output, a simple transitor circuit to switch on a lamp. I am sure if you can hold a pencil, one of the electronics/hobby shops, would have a small kit that could easily do it.
The light would go on whenever any sound was made, but if you wanted to get cleaver, a custom sound file at a specific frequency and a tuned RC circuit could make it come on only for speed cams. I haven't done that since I left university 20+ years ago - it would take a while for me to engauge my brain :D , but it's not too hard. |

Hi robertn
Like the idea? Had one of those key finder gizmo’s as a stocking filler. The type that when you whistle at certain pitch it flashes and beeps. Without taking it apart, I am wondering if there is an adjustment pot on board to do the thing you are talking about.
Regards
