|
|
My old maps showed open countryside along the route of the new section of the A1 between Pontefract and Aberford and the current gps position pointer hopped from one nearby road to another while my Tomtom attempted to calculate a route, so I was looking forward to being able to travel along the new road with my new maps with a steady blue pointer.
Unfortunately, although the route of the new roads is recorded in the new maps, the route does not correspond to reality and the blue current gps position pointer still travels parallel to the road or in open countryside and the Tomtom still continually tries to recalcualte a sensible route.
Are the maps incorrect or is there a problem with my combination of hardware, software and maps?
If the problem is the maps, this is such a gross error I feel Tomtom should provide a new version at no extra charge.

Aomeone posted about a similar issue with the M4 which was cured by a reset. |

Thanks very much for your reply.
I tried resetting and then followed advice from TomTom support, i.e. as suggested, I formatted my SD card, copied over the new maps and reinstalled v6.52. I have driven the route again from south to north and my TomTom GO was unable to guide me correctly up the 'new' A1. The new road and the old road appear on the new maps and the TomTom can't identify the best route, i.e. the route along the new road, and the position of the blue gps position arrow does not correspond with the position of the mapped roads. The roads seem to have been mapped incorrectly as the position of the maps doesn't match the position of the actual roads.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Could it be my combination of hardware, software and maps and other combinations are OK?
Comments appreciated.

Just traversed the 'new' A1 link as well using my new 910.
As you said, the new road is there, just not in the correct place on the map.
This is a map error, a reset will not sort this.
Very poor of Tomtom to be this far out with positioning _________________ Garmin Emap, Ipaq 2210 with TomTom Navigator 5, TomTom One, Pioneer AVIC-X1R, TomTom 910 (stolen). TomTom 520, TomTom 6100 (Faulty, replaced under warranty), Currently got a TomTom 6200 |

this is gonna hurt .....
I hate to actually support TT on a mapping issue as they have made such a mess with the issueing of maps ... but on this occassion I must point out it is NOT their fault.... they purchase maps from either NavTEq or TeleAtlas ... it is those companies that have mapped the roads incorrectly.
If we are going to apportion blame , lets do so to the right place... mapping is the map-makers fault, poor/late distribution is TT's

That may be the case, but as far as I am concerned I bought the product off TT and at the end of the day the buck stops with them. They must have more than a little purchasing power with Teleatlas and for such a gross error they should lean on them for an immediate fix.

Have you all reported it to TomTom and Teleatlas?
Report errors in Tele Atlas maps to Tele Atlas HERE
and to TomTom themselves HERE (You have to be logged in to access this page) |

Sorry, hit "post" instead of "preview"...
I meant to go on to say, but if you want to make a fuss / get a replacement map when they come out, you'll need to lodge a formal complaint with TT. |

Doesn't the 910 use Navtech maps?
Isn't it a bit strange that both get it wrong? _________________ Garmin Emap, Ipaq 2210 with TomTom Navigator 5, TomTom One, Pioneer AVIC-X1R, TomTom 910 (stolen). TomTom 520, TomTom 6100 (Faulty, replaced under warranty), Currently got a TomTom 6200 |

No, only the 'Rider' and 'ONE New Edition Europe version' use Navteq maps |

yours should be the Navteq maps,
but who knows if they are correct? _________________ Garmin Emap, Ipaq 2210 with TomTom Navigator 5, TomTom One, Pioneer AVIC-X1R, TomTom 910 (stolen). TomTom 520, TomTom 6100 (Faulty, replaced under warranty), Currently got a TomTom 6200 |
