If you have a French Garmin unit . .

I got this from garmin as I wanted to update my maps and have a French unit with default maps changed ;

Unfortunately you cannot update the mapping at present

This facilities expired 1st September 2006.

The reason for this is that we are bringing out a new version of mapping in
January (version 9)

If you are registered on the garmin website then you will notified by mail
of how and when to obtain the update disc

If you purchased your unit after 1st September you will be entitled to a
free upgrade

If not then you will be required to pay for the update ( $75)
You will need to pay this over the internet once you have popped the DVD
into the computer.

Any unit purchased after the 1st September will be entitled to a free
upgrade

Your unit will also be upgraded to have the whole of europe aswell (
normally the cost would be £250)

We stopped making the I3 but due to popular demand we had to import some
from France.

We then changed the base map to have Uk and Ireland, but as you can see it will still show on the registration page as being in France.
