Hi, I'm new to posting here but was grateful about 6 months ago when researching what gps to buy - my first one! so a big thank you to this site and all you folk who do post!

In all the time I've had the 530 I have been very happy with it, yes there are a few niggles but generally all has been great until now.

The problem is that the unit somehow manages to "reset" itself if I switch it off then on again or if I go to a a menu page to do something then back to the map. It always defaults to desert colours and speed/distance in kilometres! - quite a pain when the speedo clock in the car doesn't do mph! Other user option settings just wont save at all.

I hope this is not terminal.... Any advice would be really gratefully received.

Apologies if this has been covered before, I have tried a search but found nothing.

Ta
Mark

That seems to be a contradiction Wink

Still, when you reset the display settings, and ESC back to the MAP display, do you get the warning dialog box

Do you wish to save changes etc....
. Do you click 'YES' Question

If so, I can't imagine what is causing the display to revert back to what I assume is the default BUT 'Desert' colour and Kph is not the default unless you are not in the UK.. Rolling Eyes

Thanks Gee-Pee

I'm in the UK and the car is a Jap import with kph/kilometers (no mph etc)on the clocks so I presently have to rely on (well, I did) the GPS for mph etc.

The problem has only just occured in the last week or so after about 6 months of fautless (apart from the niggles) use.

I always use the "save" button before "Esc" yet the new settings fail to stick.

Not sure what could have happened to cause this all of a sudden as I have done nothing differently, not loaded any POI or map files recently or used any other charger than the supplied car charger.

Do you know if I am able to reload the software/any new firmware on the 530 pls?

I guess I might have to resort to contacting Navman but expect the response will take some time.

Cheers
Mark

Well, I've not had any really long delays when I have sent Navman messages so it's worth a try. I understand what you mean about the speedo now Exclamation
In the meantime, yes I believe you can re-load the software if you have the SmartST Desktop on your computer and the device is registered to you. However, someone with a 530 should be able to tell you that - I just have the 510 at the moment. Do you have a handbook Question I'll check it out for you.

Just checked and it appears that you can update the software. Open your SmartST Desktop on your PC after connecting your 530 by cable and using MS Active Sync. Navigate to Setup - Update Software - Update software on ICN.....worth a try. Have your CDs available to use if and when required.

I assume that the 530 is a UK version with UK and pan european maps already loaded and that you have registered it Question
