Wrong alerts?

I have a Tomtom One v2 and have downloaded the camera database detailing each type of camera. In order to reduce false alarms I have ticked the ‘warn only if POI is on route’ box on the Tomtom. I have confirmed this works by planning a route near a local camera and I do not get the warning as it is not on my route. I have noticed however when on motorways, mostly through urban areas I do get false warnings of speed and red light cameras. This seems to happen when I am on the motorway and the cameras are situated on roads (but not exactly on the part of the road that the motorway crosses), which cross above or below the motorway. Am I right in assuming that since the roads cross the motorway they are taken (wrongly) as being on my route and if the cameras are within the set warning distance I get the alarm? This question is really just to satisfy my curiosity and I would rather have many false warnings than get points on my license.

There is a 'corridor' each side of the route that will trigger the warning.

Someone reported that this has been narrowed in the later versions of TT.
