Navman ICN330 changing software / maps

A few techy questions as i'm new to using GPS:

I bought a navman 330 and while it works fine most of the time I was wondering if it was possible to update the maps, as it seems to be missing a section of the A1. How do I do this?

Can you update the GPS software as well e.g. use other navman gps software or even TomTom? Everything appears to be stored on the SD card and can be edited using the PC, so what (if any) options do I have.
